Yes, we are attracted to beauty as good looking people are, however, we look for inner qualities to offset a not-as-attractive exteriorin a mate.

ugly people have to be nice or there is no other reason to put up with them.
i think its less about lower standards and more about circumstances forcing them to be a better and more like able person then the average good looking individual, who are usually full of themselves.
some smart hot girls date and often marry guys who most would call not god looking because they arent shallow and care about more then just looks
