Do you think the human mind could handle a type of immortality on Earth?

Say a thousand year old person that didn’t age as a hypothetical. Like Interview with the Vampire. Do you think at some point the mind needs to die?

If you keep your youth I think it would be tolerable.
Use your experience to cultivate a skill and money and just accumulate cool stuff and bang hot trim

Yeah I'd say most humans are programmed to survive as long as possible.
I think this will be possible in the next 50 years, but in a different way. Eventually someone will figure out the way our conscious is stored in the brain and we will be able to store it in a cloud system where people can interact and relive memories, live other peoples memories, etc, for eternity... Or at least until someone kills the electricity.

Jesus would come back and shut it down before that happened. Some things are not meant to be feasible and we’re getting closer all the time.

You would definitely need the assistance of drugs but I think our brains are kind of wired to perceive the present as your whole reality. So I bet it’s possible, the previous 900 years would probably just blur together

I’ve got to know why you thought of this. I often contemplate immortality when reading LOTR. I think we as humans would adapt.

I feel bad for elrond and galadriel

If it was an Oweo thread he would be wondering about the future abilities of micro-surgery to fix what ails him.
I wonder if he would fix the penis, or legs if only one option was available?

I was contemplating immortality. I’m not sure the mind could adapt on Earth.

Without mortality, do ethics and ambition fall apart?

How bad would it be to get a life in prison sentence

Absolutely. Everything just reverts to boundless hedonism.
But I guess there is the possibility people may get tired of that after 300 years of fricking so maybe you just start reading books and getting really wise at that point

That’s part of it. You should feel bad for them. Immortality is great because you live forever; however, you live forever. FOREVER! You have to see and live through it all. In the case of elves in LOTR, you have to watch mortals die. And inevitably, there is some dick who wants to frick up immortality for everyone else.

Hmmmm is that a bad thing?
You’ve got to admit, some of your threads are “creative” to say the least.
