It’s already cancelled, this is the final year I believe

I drove by a Z28 a few mornings ago. It was about a 1971. I wish I had gotten a closer look.

I was just thinking the other day how about if the Camaro will be back or not after this generation . I love my 2017 Mustang, and regret getting it over the Camaro not one bit simply because of the everyday usability of it versus the Camaro and that horrible cabin it has.
I have a number of the regrets in my life, but getting this GT is not one of them

I told my son that recently. Personally, I think making modern cars on the old body style would sell like hell. Everything today generic and boring.
I've said things like that, but right now all 3 pony cars look aggressively retro to me.
I bought two new Mustangs back in the "Fox body" era because they looked like the 1990s cars they were. After 2005 or so, all of those cars looked like nostalgia-mobiles for reformed Dead-heads... to me, at least.

I really haven't cared much for Pony cars built after 1972
There’s no substantive difference between a ‘72 & ‘73 Mustang other than the plastic front bumper on the ‘73 model.
Now in ‘74 they went to the Fox platform Mustang II, maybe that’s what you meant?

Out of all of them, the Camaro ZL1 1LE was one of the few I would actually drive. The car is a track monster
And utter shite as a street car.
Drive a regular 2015+ Mustang GT for any time and you will be amazed at how well Ford engineered every part of it. They are phenomenal.

If they don't figure out a way to keep them from rattling apart after 18 months, no.
It takes a really ignorant to say something so stupid. You don't Know anything about these current cars, yet you make yourself look like a fool.
Doesn't matter if it's Camaro Mustang or whatever, nothing rattles itself apart anymore really

Fox platform Mustang II
No, that's not right.
The Mustang II had nothing to do with the Fox Mustang. It had leaf springs and a twin A-arm front suspension. The Fox Mustang had a strut front suspension and four control arms out back. It was also much, much lighter than the Mustang II and much faster. And, speaking subjectively, the Fox Mustang looked a lot better.

I was surprised to read that it is 3rd in pony car sales behind the approaching 12 year old Challenger.

Yes, I either fumble fingered or fumble brained 1973. But in regards to the Mustang specifically I don't care for the 4th gen very much so I really would cut the Musang off at 1970.

You’re right, the ‘74 Mustang IIs were not Fox platforms.
Mea culpa.
Mea culpa.

I had a ‘73 Mustang.
It wasn’t bad, wonderfully simply to live with.
I prefer ‘69/‘70 Fastbacks over any other Pony including droptops.
Personal choice though.

First thing they need to do is slim these cars down a bit in size from the size of the old Crown Victorias and get rid of all the goofy electronic junk that's inside so the price of the better packages comes down. Give me a bare bones Chevelle all the way down to a crank window and spend all that extra cash on a motor package.

It probably seems like nit-picking, but those Fox-body Mustangs were some of the only cars that ever felt like they were made for people my age.

Everyone I know that’s really into muscle cars drives a 1994 Buick Lesabre.
I guess that’s the problem.

Not as bad as some reviewers let on. It doesn't matter because I prefer my performance cars track biased and never use them as a DD. Compared to a Mustang GT or a Camaro SS I would rather drive an M4 as a DD it has similar acceleration and better braking and turning and makes an excellent baby GT. Then again it is all back to money, a Ferrari Superfast is a better GT and track performer than either but just costs a few dollars more.

I just wish one of the companies would make a "new" muscle car that had the body of one of their 60s/70s models, just with new everything else.
I sometimes think this approach would work with pickups. Modern features and engines but the sheetmetal of say, a 1990s Silverado.

Chevy should have only made one package - SS - and kept it at that. Why people spend the money on the lower packages is beyond me.
Probably bc not everyone is OT rich like you
