While I think Heyman has made raw a little better, in my opinion it’s absolutely boring and tough to sit through sometimes. I watched a couple of Raw’s from 2000 the other day and then you compare that to a 2019 episode and it’s night and day.

AEW will compete with Raw because of what they bring to the table, better writing. And before you get mad, ppl used to say every week that The Firefly Funhouse and the 24/7 jobber title are the best things on Raw. Think about it, the NON WRESTLING segments on a wrestling show are the best parts. I rest my case.

How do you know AEW will have better writing? It's easy to have better writing when all you have had so far as a handful of pay per view events spaced far apart. Let's see how they can handle a weekly show.

What writing? The only weekly show that AEW has recently is their YouTube shows that are about 20 minutes long. And those YouTube shows are the equivalent of WWE backstage segments with no wrestling.

If you only watched WWE's YouTube content and highlight packages, you'd think We WWE's writing was incredible.

I dont see it happening. Maybe if AEW teases a huge roster addition and builds hype to it. I could see AEW winning some quarter hours, or hours, but not a program-long rating unless something major happens

I feel like AEW gets the benefit of the doubt too much. As if the writing will be perfect, every wrestler will be booked perfectly and all have storylines that make total sense, no wrestler will be unhappy with their booking, every storyline will be handled perfectly

Its like some people are so anti-WWE that they are assuming AEW is coming in and will be a flawless product just because they arent WWE

The Fiend is being demanded to be on Smackdown by the Fox execs for good reason. He is the hottest thing they have and DISH network is dropping the channel. 12 million potential viewers gone. AEW will beat RAW in the ratings, especially if CM Punk signs with AEW. I just don’t see RAW staying on top with their shitty storylines and without the Fiend.

They won't beat NXT ratings for more that the first week....the build up to this has been abysmal.

ETA

Think about the Monday night wars from around 97-98. Some of the WWF's biggest stars were Stone Cold, Owen Hart, Golddust, Marlena, HHH, Ron Simmons (Farooq), and Mick Foley. A few years later this group grew to Rey Mysterio Jr, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, and Eddie Guerrero. Those guys all held pretty good spots in WCW at one point in time. I listened to a podcast a while back that the main reason they all left was that WWF/E could make them much bigger stars than could WCW.

That still holds true today when it comes to AEW and WWE. WWE can create big stars way easier than can AEW (look at what has gone on with Bray Wyatt...nobody in AEW is close not even MJF). I mean lets face it is anyone on the AEW roster close to getting a role in the Fast and the Furious series?...hell no. Is anyone in AEW close to headlining their own series on a major cable network?...hell no. I mean say what you want about Reigns and Miz but the WWE has basically made them multi-millionaires many times over....eventually some of the guys in AEW (like Adam Page) will want that money that AEW will never really be able to get them. Sure they will get nice salaries but they aren't going to get anybody on John Cena's level.

If the Fiend goes to Smackdown then WWE needs to really figure out how to make RAW a strong B show and not a C show. Because if they put all the stars on Smackdown then not only will people not tune into RAW but wrestlers will view being on RAW as an insult.

I get FOX wants there to be the big names on the Smackdown roster but there needs to be balance.

Fiend isn't taking a pin to Rollins at HIAC....he is going to be Raw champ and stay on USA....that alone hurts him a bit but I don't see any other way they can do this without killing him.

ETA The only way I see Fiend going to Smackdown is if Lesnar stay on Raw and becomes a regular talent (aka house show warrior and all)...and I dont' see that happening either because I think Fox wants the real sport feel that Lesnar brings.

Especially a three hour C-show at that

Raw's tv deal is worth more than Smackdown's. They will find a way to balance the rosters.

It's a damn shame Fox didn't get Raw instead because it would have to go back to 2 hours since Fox affiliates have their local news on at 10:00 PM.

I’m surprised Fox wants Bray, seeing that they want to present Smackdown as a sports show. But he is the best thing they have going right now.

You say it like it’s an insult, but they can out preform 2/3 of the WWE roster.

Giants don’t mean as much as they used to.
