Stop at the door, take a look, see shoes lined up, then off with mine. Unless my host says otherwise. Quite simple really.

I don't think I've ever seen someone just take their shoes off before going in someone's house

Unless they've been walking thru mud or some shite

Of course. Who would want what's outside on the sidewalk on the floors of their home?

I walk straight up in the house with my shoes on like a MFing BOSS.

Then I take them off and put on house shoes.

Exactly. I've known people like this at their own house, but to expect that everyone does it is strange. And to do it in the first place is strange.

Flooring is intended to be walked on. Hardwood floors are chosen because they are a good surface to take the abuse of walking. When they get dinged, they can be refinished. If they are cheaper engineered wood that can't be refinished, they can be replaced. Carpet can be cleaned. If it's stained, it can be replaced. Dirt in your house an issue........clean your house more. Changing up your whole life to not mess up the stuff you have is exactly on par with people having plastic on their couches or freaks who won't shake other people's hands due to germs.

I men we take precautions (I wipe my feet as best I can before even getting in my car). I'm anal when things get messed up. But going to those extremes and expecting others to do it is a bit weird. I can only think of one time in my life when it's been asked of me. And we still talk about how strange those people were (for a variety of other reasons as well).

In the winter, yes because it is typically more dirty/muddy outside.

No. I'm not a fricking slob. Neither are the people I invite into my home.

It's decorum.

Absolutely. Best case, the host didn't feel like they had to ask. Worst case, the OT baller that swears he doesn't piss on his hands gives me a funny look.
