I saw the thread about Wendys and a Single being $1. I remember when they cost 4 or 5 times that, before inflation happened , but do you remember a time when some fast food places actually were "good" and not just because you were 5 years old?

Subway back in the day was fricking fantastic..Quizno's had great stuff going on..Wendy's...even Jack in the Box..Food came out not just fast, but HOT

ETA: Subway had such fresh bread back in the day..

Rally’s, in the fork of the road near Pontchatrain Blvd/Robert E. Lee/heading towards Bucktown, years ago made a mean Big Buford and the fries were always hot and crispy.

Sadly, that’s all just a memory now.

I liked Quiznos a good bit. Used to go to the one by LSU’s campus sometimes.

I quit going to Subway, I don’t think they ever tasted good. The chicken looks like it’s little soy bites or something and the bread is huge and gross

That’s precisely it, fat. Specifically that beef fat or tallow stuff that the likes of McDonalds used to use to fry stuff. Whatever it was was utterly superior to the sissy oil they use these days. Petunia oil or some shite.

That old stuff was the tits. Real grease for real men. Not so coincidentally, right around the time they were required to forego further use of the good stuff is when we started to get soft. Early 90s ish.

It really was a pretty huge difference in taste and feel.

Zipps in front of Super1 in Monroe and at the foot of the Louisville bridge soon as you get in West Monroe… is the GOAT… fries haven’t been topped yet… no idea what happened to them

Yup, everything tasted better back then because the people behind the counter were half decent human beings that could get 3/4ths your order right.
Now? You have to go to either Chick-fil-A or Canes to get decent fast food.

The last time I had Whataburger, I had to wait 15 minutes for a decent burger that cost $10. 7 days later, some dude got 9 rounds pumped in his head in the same parking spot.

I don’t go to that Whataburger any more.

I remember when Popeyes actually served edible food.

At one time (90’s), it was even my favorite fast food place to go.

I think I last got food at one in 2018.

You’re talking to a board that thinks Chick Fil a is fine dining.

Fast food is gross, has been and always will be. Spend $5 more and go eat real food at an actual restaurant.

Great example. I lived on Colbert a few blocks behind Mt Carmel. I’d get a big Buford and scarf it down before I turned into my driveway. I still say that was the absolute best hamburger.
