When I was 12 I moved from Dallas Tx to a city without many black people and very little crime.
The first night I was there I sat next to my dad and the local news came on.
The lead story was a 3 year old girl fell off of her porch and broke her arm.
My dad looked at me and said "I think I'm going to like it here."

I've noticed this for quite some time. If I watch the news, which is seldom, it's only after the first 15 minutes of the local news.
