Youtube - Shameless Product Placement

Americans are exposed to 5,000 ads everyday and will spend 3 years of your life watching television advertising.

Advertising makes up 70% of News Papers
40% of Mail is advertising

Only about 8% of ads are received by the mind, but 92% of advertising is worked and reworked into the recesses of the brain.

Product placement is a Billion dollar industry.

I usually notice in movies but only because branded products are usually so out of place. Movies and tv shows use so many generic brands that when something is used that has had advertising dollars sunk into its presentation, it’s pretty noticeable.

Was watching a movie from the early 90’s last night and enjoyed seeing the products from my childhood. Lots of nostalgia.

It's gotten to be so ubiquitous that I now only notice when they are trying to avoid naming a product. Like some guy is drinking a beer out of a can that is labeled simple "Beer" that is noticeable and hilarious.

People like to say the shite doesn't work, yet studies show the shite does work.

The brain is easily manipulated. You may not go buy that thing you saw immediately, but when you're in the market for it and are looking through your options, BAM!

When it's as obvious as this I tend to think shite backfires. I think less of Coca-Cola for being so lazy:

Very much so.

Does it make me want the product?
Never.

I have thoroughly studied the art of persuasion and am highly tuned in to their manipulative tactics:

You are not a true Success until you own a Cad*****
3 months salary is what you're supposed to spend on an engagement ring
If you want women wear A** body spray...just ask the guys in New Iberia
I despise people attempting to manipulate me and will walk out of a business if the salespeople are too aggressive, yet this is the method many are taught. The DVR may very well be the greatest invention since the wheel! If I am not with a group I will intentionally wait 30 mins to an hour after LSU and Saints games start so I can fast forward through the commercials and halftime. I don't think I have watched a broadcast TV show live in about 10 years unless it was on a pay channel like HBO.

Not product placement, but somehow this video made its way onto my Facebook feed. Thought it was a really clever way for Burger King to get a viral advertisement across the internet.

Doesn't make me want to eat BK, but I can see lots of mons taking their kids to Burger King now because they pretend to care about bullying. Pretty genius marketing IMO.
