Gotta love the OT.

especially when it carries that value when you sell it back.

I should hope so since it costs a lot more upfront and increases maintenance costs due to extra wear and tear, as well as decreases fuel efficiency.

It's just better to have, IMO, than not to because you don't know when it will come in handy.

I'll save $200 for a tow truck over spending several thousand dollars extra just in case I may have a use for it. Not to mention all the traction aids available on modern trucks can help 2wd trucks get out of most situations that the average driver would face.

Don't worry though, 4wd definitely makes your junk bigger.

I haven't read everything in this thread and I'm sure/hope that it's been said that the GM truck are assembled in Mexico and not the US.

Toyota is more American than GM.

It's not a full size truck. You're horrible at recommending vehicles for people. You recommend a midsize truck for someone who wants full size. You recommend an Acura MDX for someone looking for a compact SUV. And you don't think a BMW 3 series is a good car in its class. You're clueless and yet you post in many of these threads.

The Colorado is a cool truck but it's a horrible value

As for 4WD, it does retain its value and it's only about 3500-4000 more typically, not 6-7k

But that doesn't mean you should get one if you don't need it.

I'll always have one but I use it, although sparingly

And it's known that the Toyota's made in America are not as dependable as the ones made in Japan. Hence why people buy the used ones with a VIN that starts with a J.

And my truck is an American made Ford F150 (crew cab 2wd)

ETA: Only been stuck once, and got someone with a 4x4 to pull me out. Glad he spent the $6k extra to pull me out for free. I just don't have a need for 4WD.

Im just giving suggestions that may help some people. You just hate for either two reasons: one, you are broke, or two your just bored.

Not the people that asked for them.

Or I like for people to actually get the help they want since I'm not clueless.

Chrysler's dependability is so bad, I wouldn't have included them at all. Ford and GM do make decent trucks, but I wouldn't buy any other vehicle they make.

Honda dealer here, so obviously for cars im all about Honda.

Trucks, Ford or GMC...but only if I had to. First option is Ford.

That GMC does look nice though. Good-Luck.

American cars have significantly improved their reliability (which was the problem with them), so buy what you like.

In trucks, American, but I really like the Tundra. As stated, most vehicles don't tend to be built in the country they claim as home, but I prefer the design of GM/Chevy in most generations(especially this current gen). As someone else mentioned, the Colorado isn't bad, but I find the Canyon to look a million times better. They tow up to 7500 pounds and are surprisingly large, but the rebates on them are pretty lackluster making a full size truck more appealing.

My Dads had good luck with his past two Rams, as has my brother with his Tundra. Dad worked for Ford in his youth(and has rebuilt old muscle cars his entire life) and developed a special kind of hate for Ford, which I inherited, so I can't objectively comment on them. I'm sure they're nice enough though as well.

Per American vs Foreign in terms of passenger cars/sports cars, I probably lean European, but have no real preference. American cars seem to be making real strides in closing the gap as of late.

Damn I'm surprised at the lack of compact pickup truck love in this thread. That's all I've ever owned. For someone like me who doesn't usually haul anything it makes a lot more sense for a compact pickup truck when I can save a lot on gas.

I've only purchased Used Ford Rangers, but I've considered going ChevyS10's before.

Oh, and to answer OP- I only buy American
