Our dogs went through a phase where they picked at their dry dog food(Merrick...all grain free and supposed to be a really good quality dog food). Vet also officially labeled my pug as obese. Suggested we mix some veggies with their dog food.

Tried fresh green beans that I steamed in the microwave....they loved it but made a huge mess with them(the green beans kept falling out of their mouths all over the floor).

What I do now is buy bags and bags of frozen peas(making sure they are not ones mixed with salt). Microwave them and mix with their food(for the pug I give him less food and more peas to lower his calorie intake to promote weight loss). They LOVE it.

It's got enough vitamins and nutrients for a human! Why not for a dog?

It also tastes better, has a better texture, and obviously has better variety.

It also likely has a lot of stuff that while ok for humans to eat....will make a dog really sick(or even kill them).

We've been making our dogs food for a few years due to an issue with oxilate stones. We dont mind and he is now very healthy. He's small though. Would be more of a challenge for a big dog

I have two 50 lb dogs. I'm not cooking them food. They get scraps from time to time. If they dont want hard food, they can starve.theyd both have died 9 years ago had I not given them a home, food, air condition, and of course, love.

I thought about feeding mine raw for a hot minute. Then, I discovered frozen raw. It costs about $250/mo, but he likes it, and it is very good for him. He had a bunch of small lipomas that are gone after only three months, and his skin and hair is better than it was on the best dry food available. Doesn't drink much water, and takes small shits.

It's called Primal Frozen Raw, and I alternate flavors every time he finishes a bag (2 days)

Man, what would dogs do without their human made dog food? How would they survive?

con, pour some of the grease over the dry food. Obviously, it needs to cool before you feed it to them.

Many a case of raging pancreatitis has started like this. Good way to set fire to $1000 but hey it's your pup

My MIL has to give her dog the rice and chicken. Won't eat solid food on the dogs old age.

Add apples, pears, and other veggies too...

switch up chicken, pork, turkey, and fish...

Doesn't really need the rice, but its better than the high% of grains etc used in regular food.

I feed my German Shepard Tuna and raw oats with some dry 4 health food from Tractor Supply.

Tuna - for his hips (Instead of giving fish oil pills)
Oats - for fiber

Getting ready to add scramble eggs to the mix to give him more protein. Plus help with his coat.

I just get the premium from costco and add omega 3 in the food. The omega 3 is for heart health and she has a form of lupus that attacks the nails and they fall off. They have grown back now though.
