Exactly, it makes no sense. I am making sure I have retirement. Might not be huge but I should be comfortable.

Nah, I'll take the zero. Not what you think. Think of relations on the installment plan...Once a month.

She makes that now. She actually fricked that up, cheated with her high school boyfriend. We started out struggling but she moved up in her career (at the sacrifice of mine). Needed a yes man in her life, she got that in her ex. BTW, she married him.

Not to derail thread but the hospitals outsource billing and collections these days and the companies that handle it accept things you wouldn’t expect. Medical billing is big business and they love people who will pay

The amount of deduction seen after an audit of medical services is incredible. People billed for $30k but really only $2k of it is warranted.

I have noticed most people peak in their personality young. Like 15. They just learn to hide flaws during their 20s, 30s, and 40s. They just stop caring as they age.

it's so bad man. My parents are in a bad position, my in-laws are in a worse position. Both of them have parents (greatest gen) that lived comfortably in retirement for 35+years. How can you not live by that example?

I think a lot of it is the first generation of credit card and absurd credit use was the boomers. Their parents didn't have access to that kind of marketing and credit, so they paid cash for everything. If you couldn't afford it, you couldn't but it.

They got used to saving up. Many times you save up for something over the course of months, when it comes time to buy you are more careful with your purchase. When you buy on credit you have these fools buy the Platinum instead of the XLT, when you have pay cash you buy the XL instead of the XLT.

Then the boomers come along and all of a sudden they can buy all kinds of crap on huge loans and installment plans. Its not an excuse, but its a big reason IMO.

I wouldn't consider that a decent job at life or employment.

He had a heart attack last year and had three cardiac stents placed then. I asked if he had health insurance back then and he said no. He said that he cut a deal with the hospital and he is paying $30 a month for a very long time until it is paid.

Damn I feel like a sucker for paying for health insurance now.

I used to work with a financial advisor that managed money for doctors. Some of the stuff I saw was pretty epic.

Usually the best doctors are terrible with money.

What is amazing is most people can't grasp compounding interest. It is like you are talking to them about massive black holes in space. Their eyes glaze over.
