Hospital administrators freaking love it. The hospitals are making a fortune because the number of non paying patients has decreased. Meanwhile, these same administrators tell their nursing staff that they can't afford to pay them properly and cut their benefits.

So your mother gets a break, but I get beaten with the paddle to help pay for her?
This is what's wrong.
This is what's wrong.

This guy gets it. You have to understand that "allowing plans to sell across state lines" is another way of saying "the federal government prohibiting states from regulating their own health insurance regimes." How's that for small government?
Further, last I checked none of your insurance cards say "Obamacare" on it. You're blaming the government for a service it does not even provide.

Self employed insurance costs a shite ton of money.
My dad has been self-employed for 15 years. Pre-Obamacare a family plan was $325. Jumped to $1700.
$325/mo is a "shite ton of money"?

id be okay with paying a flat tax

And for everyone here that is against covering pre-existing conditions, eat a dick and I hope y'all have to go through the shite that many have concerning this.
Maybe try having health insurance to begin with. Instead of stretching yourself to buy that new whip/clothes/whatever, you should allocate money to something infinitely more important: protection of your health

The majority has no access to affordable health insurance.

Hey dipshit, I had coverage. Not my fault I woke up blind during exams at LSU and found out I had MS. Insurance quickly dropped me for that reason and that reason alone

If you and everyone else who feels the same way will vote for a flat tax, id gladly vote against obama care.
I don't care what you vote for.
I'm just stating my opinion that I don't give a shite whether or not your mother can afford health insurance. If she couldn't afford health insurance because of being self employed then she should have taken a job with a company that has health insurance.

That's just an awful, illogical way to look at things - especially the tip analogy.
And why is that?

I'll never support the federal government forcing its citizens to purchase a product and if you don't buy it you get to pay a penalty. Why the hell should young healthy people have to pay into it while lazy fat fricks who haven't seen the inside of a gym since high school get it for free? Every one should pay their fair share and that's not happening.

Spent two decades in healthcare, most of it in management/administration. Glad to be out but keep up with many old industry peers.
Obamacare has flaws, that's for sure. Anyone who confuses what we have with socialized medicine as it exists in most developed countries is being intellectually dishonest.
In the end, we'll see socialized medicine here in the States. It will happen in most of our lifetimes. And while it's easy to say repeal, the fact is big Pharma and health insurers made more money in the Obamacare era. Reality is most hospitals would rather see Obamacare stay as opposed to dealing with a new period of uncertainty with new rules and reimbursement. Not to say this is wrong or right, they simply finally got used to the ACA and don't want to start over again. It's risk aversion and nothing more.
That said, I'm convinced that as long as a for-profit company (health insurance) is committed to returning dividends to shareholders the system will never be as efficient as it could be. Wages will be marginalized for healthcare workers including Physicians as hospitals race to the bottom in terms of expenses as socialized medicine becomes the norm. Thus, the reason I got out.

It only worked for the people that have injuries, illnesses, and were sick and other insurance companies considered uninsurable.

Using your logic, why do people not pay a flat tax? We are a society of unequals, does that mean we kill off the poor?
EXCELLENT IDEA

It has some good points. You are kidding yourself if you think the old way was working.

Am I the only person who thinks it's stupid to promise healthcare to everyone...then make everyone buy health insurance?
Heath Care =/= Health Insurance.

Priorities. If you prioritize medical insurance like you do food/rent/bills, then you make it work. If that means extra hours at mcdonalds, then so be it. Not too difficult a concept

Holy shite, thought I accidentally clicked the poli-board

No, you're not the only person.

You truly are a dimwit. Not everyone puts themselves into the situations you keep referring to. Life isn't black/white like your world. It's predominantly gray.
