actually did this in the parking lot after one of the home games last season. Was on my way out of lot 401 and some guys were standing on the side holding up cables. The lot was almost completely empty and it was after midnight but, i stopped got them started and continued on.

Yes, but I will use their jumper cables..
Then they pull out those skinny, high gauge wires. Damn things take forever or just don't work.

Blew my mind that that many people A) Don't have cables/starter box or B) Had the equipment but couldn't be bothered. It took me all of five minutes to pull over, hook up the cables, charge, and go.
I am the only one in an office full of oilfield baws that A) doesn't have truck or an F-250 B) Has jumper cables.
The irony of all these dudes that have "work trucks" and give me shite for driving a Jeep in Houston but they cannot even jump our office managers car when needed is never lost on me.

That really sucks.
The last time I stopped to offer to help someone it pissed me off. Old black guy with beat up truck with hood up in back of a store parking lot flagged me down. When I stopped he just stuck his hand out and asked for $2.

I bought a jump box because so many people wouldn't do it. The worst was in Littleton, Colorado in winter. I got pulled over for a burnt out taillight. My battery was bad, so when I went to crank it after getting a ticket, it wouldn't start. I had jumper cables, but the cop wouldn't give me a jump. I didn't have proper clothes, and had to wait to hours for my roadside service to show up and give me a bump.
After that, I immediately bought a jump box, and really hated that cop. Protect and serve, my arse.

I asked a lady of culcha in the walmarks parking lot to give me a jump (I was stuck on all sides between parked cars) She was coming out of store and was parked right infront so it was close enough for cables to reach.
I told her I would do it and I just needed to connect the cables to her car battery.
She looked me dead in the face and said "Im sorry I can't, I dont want to mess up my car"
So I replied "Then can you move quickly so I can flag someone down who is willing to help?"
Not 2 seconds later a good ol baw pulled up in a Silver Ray Doe and jumped me off...you fricks like the make fun of the Baws, but they got yo back when you in a jam

Last time I jumped someone off it was a fat bitch that must smoked 2 packs a day and must have been from LP at a gas station. She asked for help so of course I said I would help her even though I was just leaving the gym all sweaty and what not. I get over there she gets in her car to pop the hood and I hook then up and she stays in the car windows up, door shut. After 30 seconds or so the inside lights come on and the radio start. She then tried to crank it and of course it wouldn't. So I TAP on the window and she cracks it and I told her if she'd turn the the running lights and radio off itd crank quicker and to give it a second. She does none of it and just turns the key again. What should have taken 5 minutes took me almost a half hour and she was a complete bitch about me doing her a favor. No good deed goes unpunished they say.
TL;DR some fat bitch asked me to jump her off. She wouldn't listen to directions so it took forever and she drove off without thanking me.

I do, but I insist on doing the connections myself.

You can't trust anybody these days. "Hey can you jump my car?" while I mug and kidnap you.

I would have just left. No way I'm helping someone who doesn't show interest or appreciation.

I've only ever been asked once and I did.
I do own one of these though, so I've never had to ask any one.
And in the future, I figured if I was asked to jump them, I would hook it up to their car instead of having to play the whole charade of parking the cars close to each other, grounding the cables, etc.
