Old joke: What do riding a moped and fricking a fat girl have in common?
Both are fun but you dont want your friends to see you do either one.

No. That's silly if you are salaried.
Not if you bill clients directly per hour you work.

We don't punch in and out or for lunch. That's some McDonald's shite.

Yep. Billable time to send to clients. Super detailed, aka it's a pain in the arse.

Yep and it's stupid. It has to do with how they bill stuff.

Yes, I submit a time sheet every week. Our company has to use a DCAA approved accounting system. Couple hundred employees. Salaried but paid for approved overtime when a project timeline warrants it.

Yes, it is important for billing hours properly.
Work at a Big 4. They hound you about allocating time correctly.
Ah, the bad old days.

?If you are a salaried employee, do you have to submit a time sheet every pay period?
no, but I do have to log into some software and charge time, if it needs to be billed to anything other than my default account coding...

Yes for billable projects/hours. Salary, small company.

I understand time sheets for jobs with billable time for multiple clients.
But I've just run into time sheets for management and even VP level positions that have nothing to do with billable time, supposedly due to the SOX Act. It's just weird.

Yes. Billable time to projects. Even the CEO submits one.

And to add to what I said, we got a pretty solid group of guys so if you are running late for whatever reason, someone usually logs in and clocks you in for you. Ain't nobody got time to be getting written up or docked no pay. We gots babies to feed
