You can bet the site will get hacked with all the SSN's and info. Not worth it.

They could cross check our name/address w/ tax returns and just mail it to us, but they are too crooked to make it easy.

It will end up in the state coffers and then eventually to the crooks in office.

My wife's family has a ton of unclaimed stuff on there. I may have to charge them finders fee for these

I have about $200 waiting for me and the wife but I’m too lazy to get the paperwork done. And we know the state treasurer personally but we’re still too lazy. Mentioned it to him once before but he says he can’t release the money to us unless we submit the forms.

Just give me my damn money, man. Don’t make me fill shite out

You lazy mfers. Just fill it out and get it notarized. They mailed me my $86 for a deposit on a breathing machine rental in 2005 when my infant son go the Lung AIDS(RSV).

The hardest part was proving I lived at the address they had on file at the time. Clerk of court will get you that if it's an old house you owned. Just ask for ownership record of a property for the year of the unclaimed prop. Voila!

Under $25. Not worth going to a notary.

IIRC, I got like $11 last year just by filing out the online claim. No notary required.

I could be mistaken.

Why not? They have a way for heirs to make claims.

Some of it's not worth it if you need a Judgment of Possession.

I have 27 shares of CLECO stock with Computershare in my mother’s name. She had some stock from long ago when they issued stock certificates then she had 27 shares acquired through the drip program. Her health was bad and in nursing home and sold her stock but they wouldn’t redeem the 27 shares without certificate.I wrote letters, talked to them on phone explaining there were no certificate to redeem as it was acquired through drip program. Then she dies in October 2015.
I still get letters from them periodically with forms to fill out to redeem her 27 shares, want her to send in her stock certificates.
I had 300 shares,200 I bought and 100 through drip program and they sent me check when CLECO was sold and I never had stock certificates.
It’s not enough money to worry about having to hire lawyer,go through probate, etc.especially since they seem to be adamant they want stock certificates ( that never existed).

You might be able to fill out a small estate affidavit and a form to replace a lost stock cert. Ask your financial advisor for help.

When the OP was posted I looked up my name, it said I had a claim for $50-100. I filled out the form on the website and just got an email from them saying my claim was approved without any further information needed and I will be sent a check for $91 in the next 2 weeks.

Back about 5 years ago, I checked it and my sister and I ended up splitting about $2700 from some stock our mother had that had been turned over to the state. If you have all the required paperwork, it’s easy to get taken care of and the people I talked to at the state office were very helpful.

My dad was listed as a claimant. I submitted it for him, and it was a $500 life policy that his mother had and named him as beneficiary. She died in the 90s.

I submitted her obit and an affidavit from him. He got over $800 with interest.
