I know this board leans heavily on the Covid was a hoax by the Dems side of things, and while I’m not super worried about the virus overall, flying does seem to me like it would be one of the easier places to catch it. I don’t like flying under normal circumstances just because I live near a small airport so always have at least one connection, which ends up resulting in six to eight hours of travel minimum and not breathing any fresh air the whole time.

I need to make a 900 mile trip (each way) early next month and I’m on the fence about flying. It’s one of those things where I feel like there’s a 99% chance it’d be fine, but I will be in close quarters with some more elderly people when I get there and I would have a hard time letting it go on the <1% chance I spread the virus to them.

Anyone flown lately? Just wanted to get some perspectives even though I feel like I should already know how this is gonna go.

Only because I don’t want to wear a mask for hours. Last summer we went to Puerto Rico and to Africa. Thank goodness that was then and not now.

Nope. I am about to head to the airport now. Going to drink a couple beers at the bar and sleep on the plane. No worry here.

I flew from N.C. to Baton Rouge two weeks ago and the plane was only 40% full. Delta required masks and provided them. We connected through Atlanta and it was a ghost town with 75% of the shops closed. No problems and really no issue even getting close to people. The airlines go to great lengths to tell you how they are cleaning the air on the planes as well.

get equipment.

a breathing apparatus.

not a piddling mask.

the mistake people make is being half assed.

vinyl gloves.
a gas mask.

pee before.
dont eat. dont use toilets.

should be good.

Not a hoax. Virus is real and killing people.

However we have overreacted and that overreaction was politically motivated

If you interact with people who are over 60 and/or have comorbidities, it isn’t a big fricking joke though.

Yes for most of us, it isn’t a concern. But we can infect and kill our parents/grandparents if we don’t take a little bit of precaution.

I’ve flown a couple of times over past couple of weeks. Get early flights and the airport won’t be as crowded. Be prepared for longer layovers as they cut down on the number of flights.
I’m allergic to perfume and usually have to blow my nose a couple of times during a flight. With the masks I had no issues. Take that for what it is worth.

My other thought is, if flying was so dangerous wouldn’t we have heard that they wouldn’t be able to man the planes because all of the flight attendants were out sick.

Then they can choose to stay the frick home.

Why should I have to get punished?

Parents/grandparents/comorbidities/high risk people need to take their own fricking precautions. Keep their asses at home, have groceries/sundries/meds delivered to the house and keep themselves away from others.

My mother and ancient great aunts range in age from 70-95 yrs old. I make sure they are taken care of - I have have everything those old girls need delivered to their door.

I'm not infecting them and I make sure no one else comes near them.

They should be staying home unless working

They are selfish for not staying home

How much are airlines actually policing the mask wearing once onboard?

What stops me from taking my mask off once the plane is airborne? Are they going to turn around and divert because the guy in 24C isn't scared of the WuFlu?

My main hesitation with flying right now would be having to wear a mask for the entirety of a flight, which seems pretty uncomfortable. Flying is already bad enough

I'd have no issue with flying right now without a mask or any other precautions.
