Having a CCL doesn't mean you have carte blanche to use it whenever. If you frick up you could go to jail for manslaughter.

Right. They teach you that kind of stuff in your CCL class (or at least they're supposed to).

That's why I don't have one. My gun is strictly for home protection. I don't need to tote it around with me for protection on the street.

I've always found this line of thinking a bit silly. Why not get one and use it if/when it's needed?

Let's think about what you just said. You and your wife and kid or kids are sitting in a theater and some nut walks in with an AR-15 or something similar and starts shooting everyone one by one making his way closer to you and your family. There's no way for you to stop him. Would you rather sit there waiting your turn for you and your family with no hope of stopping him or would you hope someone there who knows how to use a firearm could unholster that firearm and stop him before they get to you and your family?

my immediate reaction is to cover my family and make it to the exit as quickly as possible

most places have more than 1 exit

I'm so glad I don't have to worry about that situation for two reasons:

1. My Jason Bourne instincts would kick in.

2. I have my own theater.

Movie theaters are not on Louisiana's list of the 10 places you can not carry.

And in a crowded theater where there's literally dozens of panicked people all stampeding for the other exit, how quickly do you think you'll be able to get out?

I do.

I love my county, and hate it. Getting a Concealed Handgun license costs $20 for a year, and they do a 4 minute long background test. No class, no trainong, no test. Anyone whose record is clean can walk in, get it, and walk out. Easy peasy.

I love the ease and lack of government procedure about it.

I also don't like it, because while I am trying to engage a shooter, some moron who has never fired more than 10 rounds through their handgun will probably accidentally shoot me in the back of the head.

I'm 38. I've never been in a situation where I've needed a piece.

The chances of having it and something stupid happening are far greater than not having it and needing it.

It's pretty easy to get one in MS. 150 bucks and it's good for 5 years. I wish they required completion of a training course.

Nope. You don't need any stupid license to carry concealed in Arizona

well there are actually 3 exits in movie theaters...

I don't know. I'm just saying, in that very rare situation, my first reaction would be to flee.

You can throw all kinds of hypotheticals at me where I would probably be screwed without a gun. I just don't believe those hypotheticals occur enough to justify me carrying a gun on me at all times.

You do. And I have no problem with that.

Cricket, do you lock your doors when you leave your residence? Why so paranoid? Do you have serious mental issues?

Equating locking the door of your home when you leave with carrying a firearm everywhere you go.

I'd probably hit the floor and smear a dead person's blood on me. Same with my family.
