I think I also read one time that the American flag should be flown to the left side of the door.

Left side when you're looking at the house from the street? My flag pole holder is on the right.

What is a typical size flag and pole for one mounted to the house?

Nothing wrong with that as long as you have an all weather flag and you have a light shining on it.

When flying more than one flag, the flag with highest priority (USA flag) should be flown to the left when facing a house. Typically, you'll see people fly US flag, State flag, and then some school affiliation. If flow at once, they should go in that order from left to right when facing the house.

I have a US flag to the left of my door. I'm installing a second flag holder on the right and it will hold a rotation of LSU/jolly roger/TN state flag.

I'm actually wrong. google says with multiple flags, the US flag should be centered and flown higher than the others. Weird. I still think if you have two flags, the US needs to be to the viewers left. Ill have to double check.

Updated:

"No such flag or pennant may be placed above the flag of the United States or to the United States flag’s right." - Congress Report ----- confirmed. Other flags should go to the viewer's right of the US flag.

I don't hang any flags besides an LSU one on gameday, but how can you fault anyone for having their patriotism revived by that horrific day?

I've got a purple version and a gold version. I switch them up from time to time.

On certain holidays (July 4th, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, etc.) I'll hang the American Flag.

On Sundays in the Fall, I hang my Saints flag.

I fly the Marines flag. If the liberal frocks around here don't like it, I'd love to see them try to take it down

Got a "neighbor" that was flying 17 Confederate flags. I live in a gated community about a mile down a dead end service road, and at the start of the road there are a couple trailers. The developer tried to buy them out but they weren't game. Haven't counted his flags lately, but when we first moved in it was 17 - on poles, in windows, hanging from the trailer, etc.

I fly the American Flag and the Bonnie Blue. I'm a veteran Jones so is this acceptable?
