I think Will Ferrell is hysterical in most of his roles. That said, I hate Kate McKinnon in almost everything she does. She does have her moments where she is a very funny lady but that are far and few between.
She nearly ruined the movie Yesterday for me. She was so bad that I am amazed that they cast her and kept her in it.
I won't shite on her in Ghostbusters since the whole movie was such a piece of shite.
I hate her Guiliani impression but I do like her Elizabeth Warren and think it is very good.

Other than Keynan Thompson, she is probably the most talented of any of the current cast members. I don't like all the skits but some of them like Kellyanne were hilarious.

She is a great comedic actress with timing and mimicry, but do I think she is a "funny" person? Maybe clown funny, but not "have an opinion and unique world view" funny like actual comedians. Nothing wrong with it. She might have great ideas and be an amazing writer too, but I'll never go see her stand up comedy act.

I find a 100% correlation between people who hate Trump and people who find modern-era SNL political humor to be funny/witty.
Almost everyone I've ever spoke with who doesn't hate Trump or likes him find these skits painfully lame. Being as objective as I can, they've got terrible timing and are generally awkward and disjointed.
That's the problem when your priority list is:
1) Make a political statement
2) Insult Trump/Republicans
3) See if we can make it funny
As to McKinnon, whether or not she's a driving force behind it, she's part of the cast in an era where being funny isn't really that important, so I'm sure it impacts my view of her.
