Go ahead...I dont know what your definition of crawfishing is but, my definition of crawfishing is backtracking on a statement. I haven't changed my stance once.

Most early civilizations were located near rivers. What do rivers do?

Man's reason and man's perception of evidence.

Man is the reason you have to put instructions on shampoo bottles.

I'm not putting my faith in man, no matter how many degrees he has or how many fossils he claims to have studied.

The good news is at some point, we'll know which of us is right.

Does anyone believe that? And why is monkey capitalized.

Well, I’ve had great conversations with people who believe that. I’d hate to never talk to my dad again, for instance, just because he still believes what he was told as a child in Baptist churches.

How often does the age of the earth come up in your conversations?

People do and believe all kinds of things. It’s just people being people.

monkeys and humans are both primates and share a common ancestor, as does all life on earth

That’s because most Catholics don’t read or study the bible

I’m not thinking you know what you’re talking about. And if you were to study the Bible harder you would see that we are advised not to judge others based on our perceptions about their dedication towards their faith.

That’s precisely what you do. You believe a large number of impossible stories written by men who supposedly lived thousands of years ago in a primitive time of great religious fervor and ignorance about the natural world.

If that's true, then you'll be right, but won't have the satisfaction of knowing it. Sad, really.

Even if you believe that God guided men via divine inspiration in creating the Bible, you'd still have to believe the men who proclaimed it.

Do you believe that's what the theory of evolution claims?

I find it hard to take seriously people who overtly attack others for their beliefs on message boards, knowing exactly what they are doing.

Tends to make me feel more positively about staunch religious people, to be honest

It wouldn’t be sad at all. I don’t need the satisfaction of being proven right, and I would prefer people who were religious at the time of death (particularly my mother) never realize anything to the contrary.

I find it hard to take anyone who loses their shite on a message board seriously. But what exactly do you mean by the bolded part?

There are plenty of dogmatic assholes on both sides, so that one’s a wash for me. What makes you feel more positively, for example, about someone telling another poster they’ll burn in hell forever for their beliefs vs. someone telling another poster they’re wasting their time over theirs?

I don't go out of my way to debate believers but if they are making claims and inviting debate, I don't see anything inherently wrong with obliging them.

I haven't read this whole thread but are there people in here saying "The Earth is 5000 years old - Prove me Wrong" ?

That’s a non sequitur. Nobody in my post said anything about the age of the Earth or anyone demanding proof of it. I was talking about tone and behavior, not geology. Seems like you might’ve crossed wires somewhere understanding the difference between “how people argue” and “what they’re arguing about.”

OK then.

Just remember.... they're just a minor threat.
