Do you ever get sad about having to throw out socks?

Doing some spring cleaning during flu season so I decided to go through my socks drawer and purge it.
There are a lot of socks that I just don’t want to throw away because they bring back a lot of memories in the past.
I haven’t worn them in many months or years but for some reason I feel a little emotional throwing them away.

Got a little to crusty for you, eh?

If they don't have holes, keep em!

I might if I ever threw any out

I threw out a few pairs of my old boxers recently and it was said. Those ExOfficio's had been through a lot with me over the years

Not nearly as sad as I get when I fold clothes and discover that the laundry monster ate one.

I’ve never bought a pair of socks I didn’t lose.
No need to throw them out. It’s astounding.

No, but I do when I have to throw out old underwear that now has holes at the seams

No socks, but there are a few tee shirts that somehow can't find their way to the trashcan.

Why would you ever throw that away!?!?!?

Every now and then, I actually throw out all of my athletic socks. Then, I buy a ton of the exact same socks. It's nice because I don't need to pair any of them; I just throw them all in the sock drawer after they are washed.

Friend,
What a great post filled with incisive thoughts that also crowd my mind, but that I have never articulated. I have one pair in particular that dates to 2004. This was in a time when I was entirely invested in full calf length socks.
The new trend at the time though was ankle socks. In one of the few times I succumbed to peer pressure I bought this pair. I haven’t worn that pair in at least five years, but I cannot get rid of them. They bring back many great memories. To think of all the great places and the many bricks and slate sidewalks I stepped on while wearing them makes me pause and ponder.
Thank you, friend, for opening me to this great joy today. I will go look again at those socks now.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

It looks a lot better in that picture than it actually is. The cloth is practically see through.

I mean, I never said you have to wear it but my question still stands

I still have Sugar Bowl t-shirts from 1984 and 1986.

My wife throws mine out when they get too big a hole in the heel. If not, I'd never throw them away. I'm not really that foot sensitive to require special or whole socks. But yeah, I get a little upset when she starts trashing my sox unless they get replaced by new ones. In the end, I care more about actually having sox than having my old sox.

That’s exactly what I’m doing lol!

I would never throw out old socks when we are facing a toilet paper shortage.
