The best, been several times but not in years. Nothing more relaxing than a long weekend of camping and canoeing.

I used to camp in a pup tent in a sleeping bag on the ground. But since I turned 40 I need an air mattress and larger tent for my achy joints.
But there's nothing like tent camping to get closer to nature. You hear all kinds of things at night - not all of them pleasant but they sure are memorable. Like the mouse that was trapped under my tent one night. The feral hogs rooting outside. Or the extremely loud Chuck-wills-widows in the woods a few feet from my tent. And there were a couple of thunderstorms that were real doozys.
I wouldn't trade those trips for anything.

Why not? They’re not uncommon for people that do a lot of car camping or overlanding. Especially the solar shower setup. I’ve even seen some that heats water using power from your vehicle battery.

Any good spots you wanna share?

No thanks. Army cured me of it.

It’s part of my life during the summer months. Spending time in the backcountry can’t be beat. You can keep the resorts.

Too many people in Pisgah as it is
Pisgah is massive. What area are you looking to go to and what type of camping are you in to?

We do a lot of car camping in the mountains in northern AZ in the summer.
We have a good air mattress and a shower tent set up so we can sleep comfortably and have the ability to take hot showers. Also have a tent heater if we camp during colder weather.
We use something like this for hot showers(water heated up by propane)...
ETA: Don't need anything to cool off...where we camp at in the summer the highs are mid to upper 70s with lows 40s-50s

Tent camping is fantastic next to a fast moving stream. Otherwise I'll rent a DNR cabin. The cabins are bare, so it's not much of a difference.

Once or twice a year. Drinking beer by a camp fire with buddies is always a good time. When we aren’t hunting and bring the kids along its even better because the little ones actually enjoy running around to gather wood to keep the fire going

Camped every year for about 4 or 5 years for Turkey season. Would get together with some buddies and camp out and hunt.
Haven't in a few years now, but I enjoy camping for the simplicity of it. It's nice to get away from everything for a weekend, especially in places where you can see the stars at night. Sitting around a campfire, drinking beers with buddies...good times.

Sitting miles from no one on the side of a mountain by a fire looking at the Milky Way. That’s why I do it.

Yes, we go once or twice a year.
Good air mattress and a good sleeping bag go a long way in a tent.
I like camping in cool weather much better though. Anything where the nights are in the 20s-50s.

I have been researching roof top tents and little camper trailers you set the tent on top of for a few years. I love camping in a tent, but the older I get the more that tent with a real pad to sleep on sounds awesome. Roof top tents look like the premier way to camp without bringing a rolling house with you (which defeats the entire purpose of camping to me).
I am still looking at these HEO T 3.5 models with a CVT made (re-branded) tent on top.

, I slept horribly in the tent. I don’t see the appeal.
Good gear, including your pad/air mattress, are imperative to an overall good time.
Sleeping near running water like a creek keeps me asleep.
I love camping. I go primitive in the backcountry. Sometimes car camping with better amenities, and sometimes I glamp.

I’m like you. I’ll take every opportunity to get myself into the woods. Doesn’t matter to me if it’s car camping, glamping, or primitive. My preference is backpacking though. I sleep in a hammock and avoid the ground all together.
