Do you big time business people really sit around and compare business cards?

Referencing the American Psycho scene with Christian Bale and his coworkers comparing business cards. Do people really do this? And do business card styles really have a play in getting business?

I will email the CEOs of the companies I am majority shareholder in and let you know

No. They compare cars, wives and homes.

A bunch of welders are about to be in this thread telling you business cards are stupid and no one uses them anymore.

Probably in certain businesses they do like graphic design or something.

My guess is twofold (a) the business card comparisons were in the day when the internet was just starting up and were a decent way of advertising/differentiating yourself and (b) now that the internet is here, the websites are the driver of that

One of my good friends just got a new job at a somewhat millennial thinking company, his business card is fricking massive. Like it’s honestly three times he size as a normal card.
Anytime I go out in public with him I bring it up to random people and he gets so butthurt about it because of course people then ask to see it and are shocked that I wasn’t exaggerating.

If someone has a god awful business card I usually notice. Don't really care though

I have a great card.
My old one was bone color. And the lettering was something called Silian Rail.
I've switched to Eggshell with Romalian type.

Nope.
My buds and I sit back with cognac and cigars talking about how many poors 401ks we raped and pillaged on that given day

It’s based in the 80’s

So the card would be serving it's purpose (drawing attention) if only he could fit a bunch of them in his wallet?

I probably hand out 5 business cards a day. The neat part is not a single one belongs to me. If I really don't like you,I'll save your business card for a special occasion such as when I'm drunk and belligerent.

If you want to know the truth, most of the "competitve" middle management and up types that would relate to this scene spend their time comparing athletic achievements these days.
IE marathons, crossfit, ironmans, gran fondos, etc. just dont get them started on their race/workout recovery plans. ten times worse than talking about Silian Rail and subtle business card thickness

I don’t know what’s worse, the card or your thumb.

For what it’s worth I had to get the group text to send me a pic of it real quick lol.
