My spouse is the only one in this discussion that is related to me by choice.

It should be siblings, parents, children, dog, spouse, and best friends . Idk about frat brothers. I think in military or firefighter worlds, their coworkers are family.

ISWYDT

to the OP, the answer to that is family does not always come first.

I would put my wife first on most everything, but my parents and sister, it depends. Most likely they would come first, but I can see situations where they would not.

family does not always come first in my book. I have best friends who are there for me a whole lot more than some of my family.

Nope.

Once you choose a partner, they should be your #1, and if you let your family members get in the way of that, you are letting them control you.

Also, plenty of people have really awful family members. If your parent, cousin, sibling, whatever is negatively affecting your life, you need to rethink their rank.

Judging from the divorce rates in this country, I'd imagine the chances are higher that your spouse turns out shitty ahead of other family.

Yes if you mean spouse and kids. No, if you mean the rest of your family although ideally they would be high priority as well.

I know what the book called the bible says. You are supposed to put your spouse before your children. Good thing America rejects this part of the bible and puts children before spouses. I don't know why anyone says america was founded on anything to do with God because this is just one example of America doing the opposite of Gods ways.

Wrong.

People of the same race, people of the same religion, people of the same opinions of Lost, THEN people of the same last name.

Family doesn't define who you are nearly as much as the first three.

Here's a simple one:

Best friend, Boyfriend, and friends are going to the beach for the weekend

or

Your LOVING parents' (who give you everything from the moon and back) 25th anniversary party.

That was a situation someone I know was in, they picked...the 1st option.

Kids (teenagers and even young adults) that say stupid shite to their parents like "my friends love me more" or pick their friends before family (good family/parents that love you, not shitty ones) make me so irate.

In a typical Arkansas gang-bang I believe it is protocol.
