Read the coddling of the American mind and the anxious generation by Jonathon Haidt. These screens are wreaking havoc on our kids and are damaging their brains long term. Such a big problem.

My kid is 23…far from coddled and too lazy to be anxious.

Everything is usually a problem if you partake in too much of it. Pick a topic…I can find someone that’s written a book about its ill effects. The problem isn’t the screens. The screen is black if off. Learn to parent.

Behind with what? Goofing off on their phone?

Behind other kids their age dipshit. My kids know more about history and animals and all other kinds of things simply by watching YouTube videos, other videos done by people who have explored other parts of the world and such. All we had was a f’n encyclopedia. So yes they are a hell of a lot smarter in elementary than I was at their age.

I'm 44 and I guarantee you I did way worse shite back in the day without a cell phone than mine does with one. It's amazing I'm still alive. I don't worry about screen time. They're going to figure out how to do it anyway and I don't particularly want to run my house like a prison. If you raise your kid to be strong and smart, which mine is, there's not a whole lot to worry about. The world is shite. Let them get used to it. I'm happy to have those conversations with her.

They shared a room with bunkbeds ad had a tv with a wii u it when they were about 8-12.

My oldest didn’t get a cell phone till he was 15 and it wasn’t allowed in his room till he was 17. They still have to plug them in the living room at night. The youngest did get a cell phone after his 8th grade year because he was running around more with his brother and friends.

No social media other than BeReal till they’re 17. When he turned 18 he got Snapchat but has no interest in TikTok or whatever after that.

I’d say I was more restrictive than most but not the most restrictive parent I know.
