This is correct. Silk slips also helped dresses and skirts not stick to pantyhose.

I have a commando nude colored slip I wear under white dresses but there have been a ton of other under products that have come out in the last 30 years that have made the slip only needed for a few things now.

I’ve never felt more like a man than being incorrect about what slips for women are for
