So the sheriff in Orange County in Cali won't enforce the order. Honest question==what's the worst case scenario? They send in the Guard or State Troopers?

No.

Best hope is that the governor doesn't want to sacrifice political points with the sheriff's voters.

Mike Couvillion is not more powerful than JBE, although he may think he is. Even though he may do a better job running the state.

So in our parish there is a meeting Monday to discuss opening the parish ... I specifically asked in his post about would the sheriff's dept take action on those who do their thing despite the EO and mentioned the OC sheriff not enforcing the close beach mandate in Cali.

He said that's why they're meeting. :dunn:

Laws and policies do not exist without someone to enforce them.

Sorry lol

He posted that they're meeting on Monday.

I asked what the sheriffs deputies would do if they found people doing their thing (ie salon owners)

Then I gave the examploe of the Sheriff in OC isn't enforcing the beach closed order from their governor.

He replied with that is part of their discussion to be held on Monday.

Ahh ok. I was confused on how we got from Vermilion Parish to California on the beach.

I'm sure they will decide what they want and then pick what they want to enforce from Edwards crap. Hell, they didn't even really enforce the curfew that Couvillion set himself.

They also allowed the golf course to do their own thing, despite fat Karen jumping on the news to tell us how horrible it was.

The ones with the gun and authority always have the trump card. The governors power only extends to how willing his enforcers are willing to enforce his decrees.

The governor isn't limited to a sheriff for enforcement.

Well I'm hoping a PJ member or council member has a wife/dtr/son who is a salon owner/hairstylist/barber and says that they'll not force them to close if they decide to open!

Yes and no, depends on states as well.

The Sheriff is the highest ranking LEO for a given county. Since the Sheriff is elected, he answers to the people of the county and therefore ranks above local police and state police.

A governor cannot fire an elected Sheriff that is not following his orders. Most counties have recall mechanisms and county commissioners as well usually have a removal process for a Sheriff. A Sheriff not following "laws" can also have power removed by the state as well usually.

Not following "orders" vs "laws" is where it will vary by states. The constitutionality of the stay-at-home orders is a legal question.

FEDS cannot assume control, unless a federal crime is being committed.

They should definitely at least give everybody the option to open if they wish. We have hardly been hit in this area, and I need a damn hair cut.

Didn't Florida's governor fire a sheriff just last year?
