Do people not realize LA unemployment is only $222 a week after taxes?

I keep reading all these Louisiana lockdown posts. There is no more federal unemployment aid as it ran out July 31st.
Louisiana pays $247 a week maximum unemployment, but it’s taxed at 10% and comes out to only $222 a week.

The unemployment trust ran is empty as they out of funds in September so they’re borrowing money to pay people. Unemployment for Covid shutdowns ends December 26.

How many people are going to be locking down for less than minimum wage? Who can live on $888 a month for absolutely no reason?

Most the people demanding we go back into lockdown have been promised another bailout or know one is coming.

This is the dream for a lot of people. Do absolutely nothing and make bank. They want this to become a lifestyle with absolutely no regard for you or I.

I fully believe there is nothing to fear, but I am almost to the point where I say frick it. Let them close it down. Let these dumb arse frickers get what they are asking for. If these scared imbeciles can live off of 200 bucks a week.... have at it. I have a recession proof job. Bring it.

Had a lady tell me yesterday that she was worried about losing her $200/week unemployment if she got a job making $600/week.

This is really a scary mentality and far too prevalent.

Tens of millions of people know the game way better than you do OP

There are all kinds of goodies you can get on top of the unemployment.

Thats the tip of the iceberg. A fraction of the .gov benefits out there.

People are dipping in all kinds of cookie jars. Know their local welfare workers by name probably.

With an average apartment and a used car you can do just fine playing the game forever

If it's coming from the state then why do they tax? Why don't they simply distribute and state that the benefit is $222/week?

What happened to the people that marched on the Capital steps petitioning for relief from paying rent on their apartments, etc? It was back in July (maybe New Orleans?) just before the funds ran out.
