My son had three years at SLU then got a nice job opportunity in technology field. He wanted to get a degree & completed requirements online from Columbia Southern and now also has a masters in organizational management from Columbia Southern.

The schoolwork is not as crip as you think it might be, he had to put in a lot of hours to achieve both degrees while working full time. He now works for a computer software program administrator and is dong well.

At my first job I worked with a DeVry graduate. He did electrical stuff on instrumentation and soon enough got promoted to doing stuff that people with 4 year BS degrees were doing. My take is that they're real but it depends on the person. Maybe some suck. I didn't consider it real college before but certainly do now.

I am currently working on an MBA at Western Governors University. Regional accreditation, no AABSC whatever.......
Really it's about who you know and your work ethic. People who clown other people's education are pathetic individuals.

There is this guy with whom I was acquainted from my childhood who apparently got one from ITT Tech I think. One of those. I would see him post on Facebook about how he got screwed by them, and it took him a really long time to get a job in the field that he went to school for. I'm not sure that it ultimately even helped him at all. I think he realized a bit late that he just pissed his money away and got himself shackled to pretty big student loans for nothing. From other stuff that I have seen him post over the years I'm not sure that he's the best at making financial decisions generally.

Beats the shite out of me. I just know when I used to do the hiring, I wouldn't hire those or University of Phoenix types. frick, my dog could have gotten an undergraduate degree from UOP.

If u think DeVry and Univ of Phoenix are the same thing then you don't know much. DeVry & ITT are highly respected for what they are and in some cases put out better products than traditional universities. My uncle is a computer engineer from there. I don't know if it's the same as other computer engineering degrees. But when you're making close to $200k does it matter?

A lot of kids who went to ITT didn't go to class half the time , thought that they'd get a degree and automatically get a great paying job. Without all the other stuff that goes into getting a good IT job. Experience, Certs, Continuing education.
Those are the ones that complain I got 3 certs Had some decent experience and went overseas and made 160k.

Medical assistants, dental assistants, pre-school education, police officer (criminal justice) and coding jobs can be had from those for profit schools. Most of those fields just want you to learn certain things and the quality of education needed isn't as high.
You can get coding jobs being self taught, so learning at a place like that won't hurt. The other jobs only care that you do have the paper for insurance reasons. Police it's not even required to have a degree but can help for advancement.

My brother went to Devry while working at Sprint and makes over 100k which is pretty damn good in the midwest. It's a helluva lot better to get a degree from Devry/ITT/etc...than these idiots that get degrees in women's studies or whatever at a 4yr university. Not only is what you learn there more useful in the real world the cost isn't as high.

At my first job in my professional career I worked with a chick that had a degree from Phoenix. She had it framed and hanging in her office. She was also a complete nut case and was let go, which didn't go well.

Yes, and many of them have tremendous student debt.

Next time some lefty whines about student debt, think about some lunkhead sitting on the couch after getting up at 2 pm who watches DeVry commercials or a medical records clerk or some such shite. Then think about the ignorant lefty's debt and have your blood boil.

Yeah, I'm not sure but I think DeVry has a much better reputation than ITT.

Devry has a medical school in Dominica (Ross). People go there and go on to become licensed physicians.
