My youngest will lose. her. mind. if she finds out we’ve thrown out “her” boxes.
Guess I’d be mad too if someone trashed my space shuttle/fort/car/house/submarine/etc.

Yep, kids are still creative until they get addicted to tv and computers.

Yup. Every time I come back from Costco they turn the boxes into some creative thing.
I remember my dad brought home a trailer load of metal parts from a job. Just tons of sheets of steel, cabinets, boxes, all sorts of shite.
My brothers and I built this massive fort from the jagged metal, and then had firework wars in it. I remember I lit a smoke bomb and managed to land it inside the fort and my little brother came out choking.
God we did some dumb shite.
But it was FUN!

Forts, boats, airplanes. Both my kids make them all the time.

$250 cushion set called a Nugget, which is marketed as something to use to build forts

My daughters have gymnastics mats, and we have a really big open space off of the side of our living room. One goes up probably once a week on average. I usually leave them to their own devices, but everyone in awhile I'll get involved and help them upgrade it.

What glorious times those were Mr. Byrd! Forts and super Nintendo!

Even video games were simple back then when you didn’t need internet data to play video games like you do now. Last year, I payed my cox internet bill and two days later after my son played call of duty, I got a text alert that 80% of my data was used. I was like
You can’t just play a game or against your friends at the house without internet or online being involved.

3 boys. They get chairs, blankets, couches and cushions and tie, clamp and rig forts up in the middle of the living room.
A couple times a year I’ll get a lot of appliance and furniture boxes and build a box fort in their room between their bunk beds. The fort will be fully enclosed by box panels with separate “rooms” and passageways and doors.
Here’s the start of one of the box forts. Theres 3 rooms in there, plus the top bunk enclosures. After this we added an outer hallway and entrance passageway in the foreground with separate snack room.
Inside of the main room between the beds and entrance to one of them. Inside the bed it’s fully enclosed by cardboard as well.

Did you get a new plan to get more data? Or does it just get throttled back after a certain point?

We used to use sheets and blankets over the dining room table. Hours of fun.

I lost my shite for a few minutes than I upgraded my data plan but I was not ready for that. My son always had a Nintendo switch and I just thought when I got him the PS5 that you just turn the game on and play. That was a rude awakening for me to learn it that way lol.

I’m glad to hear that kids are still having fun building forts!
