The fact that you had sex with a woman (and she let you bust it in her) is truly shocking

If you saw her you would be more than shocked.

Of course they do. My sons went to private school. The school required a school sanctioned PC at fifth grade. The school only went through 8th grade so the high school we choose had a mandatory MacBook purchase. Upon graduation and on to college my oldest son wanted a gaming computer. So three laptops in about 7 -8 years. So yes, kids need a computer.

My younger son was content with his HS MacBook Pro but wanted a gaming PC. He built it himself but was certainly not cheaper then a high powered laptop #1 wanted.

I bought a Surface laptop with ARM processor for law school. It worked out great until I couldn't use it to take my exams on Examplify because of the ARM processer and I had to dust off an old laptop to take exams.

Get a MacBook for them and it’ll last well through college.

That’s pretty harsh but he has done well with the ladies. He’ll put down the controller when he needs to.

My daughter made it through undergrad with a Surface Pro i3 1rst generation. She used a Surface Book i5 for grad school all in physics. One thing that you may want to consider is getting a durable laptop to get them through those years. I like the Lenovo ThinkPad Yogas currently. It's MIL-STD-810 compliant for durability, convertible, efficient, and a smaller form factor than most business class laptops.

If your asking this after highschool I will go with sure, that will suffice. And when you say college, I take it you mean cosmetology school or something along those lines.

Yep, also included a full Adobe Creative Cloud sub. Though that ended at graduation. I made a career in the printing/prepress business so the Mac was a blessing to have.

ETA: You can do anything you want on the Mac OS. Want to run Windows, no problem just fire up a VM or boot camp.

Most schools post suggested or even required equipment on their websites. I would look there before asking here.
We did this before sending our kids off to school and were not surprised.
It would really be bad to show up at a PC environment with a Mac or vice versa.

I can run Microsoft tools on my IPad but it’s just not the same.

Laptops can be had pretty cheap nowadays. Click clearance on Best Buy website.

Kids definitely need a laptop for college. It would be preferable if they have two monitors and a printer.

A majority of text books these days are digital and most assignments\test are digital. You can pick up a decent laptop at Sam's or Costco for around $600.00.

You kids and your new fangled toys. All I had was a Montblanc and a stack of blue books. Over 30 years later I still have the Montblanc.
