Do hotel A/C units go on economy mode at night?

What's she supposed to do blow on you all night? You tell management op. Tell them you want more pillows as well.

Haven't had that issue in Marriot chain hotels. Set it to 60 and freeze all night like I like to.

Hotels put motion sensors on the thermostats. If you are not moving at night it will shut off. Hang some long stands of toilet paper from the A/C vent and it will move all night long. Problem solved.

Never had an issue at Hampton or Hilton.

Never had this problem in any Hilton brand, but I have seen it. Including one hotel where there was a bank of switches behind the front desk, and the manager would cut power to the rooms during the day to keep guests from leaving the AC on (was in Texas, and it took hours to cool the room down in the afternoon). I've also seen some with the motion sensors.

The worst was an Intercontinental property in Vancouver. They had a lock on the thermostat, and a plaque next to it that said basically "you're in Canada, it does not get hot enough here to use air conditioning. If it ever DOES get that hot, management will turn on some units." I was on the sunny side of the hotel with exterior walls, and the sun would heat the room to around 90 degrees in the afternoons.

This is why I still sometimes enjoy staying in older (but still reasonably nice) hotels that have the big wide units under the window that have switches you can control. You can get those puppies rolling on full blast and have the room be 50 all night.

Sadly there are very few hotels with them left, surely most hotels have realized at this point it is easier for them to just install central AC in every room and us not be able to actually turn it down.
