OP, sounds like your issue is fluid buildup behind the ear drum, AKA sinus congestion. No amount of ear canal cleaning will fix that.
Either start taking some over the counter decongestants along with some NSAIDS for the next few days, or go the doc and get a prescription for some strong decongestants and a steroid pack.
Every year I get two or three cases of bad congestion and it sounds like my head is under water when it happens.
If it is not crazy bad, pinching the tip of your nose shut, closing your mouth and simulating blowing your nose should help open up the drainage. That usually works though only early on BEFORE it feels like you are underwater. If you hear some popping when you do it, then you know you are getting some relief, I'm usually not that lucky to hear it.

Ear candling is total woo woo. Numerous studies have shown the debris you see in the candle after is from the candle itself. Not globs of earwax magically extracted. Like this:
This is true. My sister in law had a bunch of ear candles and did my ears. I was amazed how much wax was in there. Thought you'd have to stick a shop vac in your ear to get that much suction go get that much wax. I lit one without sticking it in my ear. Low and behold, there was the same amount of ear wax stuff in it when it was finished.

Watch some Dr. Zhao wax removal videos on YouTube. It will scare the wax out of your ear.

Asians have crusty ear wax, other anthropoids has waxier ear wax.

A lot of people don’t know, but they work if you stick them in your arse as well. Cleans out the colon and you feel like a new man.

Go see an ENT. Rule of thumb-never put anything smaller than an egg inside your ear.
