Quiet and pretty. Only complaint is that if I want good food, I have to make it myself or travel.

I’ve always told myself if I ever retired I’d like to move to hill country of Texas between Kerrville and Bandera.

Not exactly, but I live in a town of 3000 on 60+ acres and can't see another house.

Pretty damn nice. We have a shooting range and 4 blinds/stands set up and I've shot turkeys from the porch. You can't get shite within 30 mins from here so it requires so e planning.

Must be boring as sh!t, nowhere to go and nobody to talk to.
Give me a couple of weeks to appreciate the beauty of nature and retreat the mind and soul, but let me come back to civilization with recharged batteries.

West Glacier, MT is where my parents spend multiple months out of the year.

Their Airbnb is at the entrance to Glacier NP and it is not what you’d call secluded during the summer, but when it’s not rented and is a ghost town in the winter it’s got that feel to it. I’ve stayed there alone with my wife for a few weeks straight before in the winter since we both work remote. You can go weeks without seeing anyone if you wanted on their property. Feel like Grizzly Adams out there, the main task each day is getting wood from the shed down the road my dad cut in the warmer months to keep the wood stove fire going which warms up the entire place when it’s going. It’s a gorgeous setting and going there is a great reset whenever one is needed. Views toward Glacier NP from their back deck:

The nearest grocery store is an hour round trip. An ambulance takes 30 minutes to get here but there are some local volunteers with medical training who can provide care until it gets here. I love the peace and quiet, no crime, beautiful scenery, and low stress. Sitting on the back porch watching the deer is something I really enoy.

similar gig here

I have a home that only has one road that takes you three hours to get to another road. We have an airport and lots of hotels, homes, and businesses so I don’t think the term remote applies.

How do you like living in Alpine? Perks? Drawbacks?
