I took one; I was researching the family genealogy, and it enabled me to find the parents of my great-grandfather. The family history that had been handed down concerning his origins was wrong, and the DNA test pointed me in the right direction. No surprise half siblings so far, but I wouldn't have a problem if I found some. Both my parents have passed away, so there'd be no family drama on my side.
My friend's husband was recently contacted by a half-sibling he didn't know about and found out that he had three of them. He already knew that his father slept around; his parents were divorced.

A coworker found out he was adopted. He lived with a huge existential crisis for a bit until he accepted that it is what it is.

Hard to believe hospitals haven’t just been taking everyone’s dna after birth.
I don’t know how anyone would know if they did tbh.

It depends on the company. The only one I would use is ancestry.com. If it’s 23 and Me run hard and run fast.

Found out my mom's "dad" isn't actually my grandad once my parents did this. He was dead and gone by this time, but you lose a lot of what you grew up thinking, then you're left with this other genetically kin portion of people that probably don't want to open up that can of worms on their end.
At the end of the day, it doesn't fricking matter if you're 10% German mixed with some Irish and a plethora of other shite. It just doesn't.
Long story short, my grandma was a whore that raw dogged.

I laughed until I started coughing.
It's one of those days.
