I cancelled a few months ago through ATT, about 2 hours later someone from Direct TV called me and offered lower pricing then what I asked for before cancelling.

it's not as easy now since AT&T bought them out. But it can still be done

No. Because that person is still paying the same. The post implied that he was saving money. He's not.

C'mon... you need a different username.

My contract has been up for about five years now. I threaten to leave each year and they always take $25 to $40 off each month plus I get NFL Ticket for free

If you've been doing this for 5 years, you would be getting free to almost free cable. I call BS.

Agree to disagree.

If all it takes to retain your business and same amount paid, is to threaten you with a higher rate and then assuage your demand of wanting to pay the same. I'd love to do business with your dumbass.

ETA I bet you feel like you scored when Kohls shows you saved $56.12 on your purchases.

You see my point then. That man isn't 'saving' money, he's continuing to pay the same amount, based off a bullshite higher rate number.

Why wouldn't the provider continue to ask for higher rates? Oh, no? Ok, well give you the same rate. Thanks for your $$.

I'd love to do business with you if I could purchase your goods or services for the same price year over year.

you can hold out for about a month without it after cancelling they will be begging you to come back. I got the ultimate package for about $50/mth doing that.

This doesn’t always work. I was fed up with them a few years ago and switched to cox. After two months with Cox, I received a flyer in the mail with new incentive pricing from Directv. I called them to switch back and not only would they not honor the new incentive prices but they also wanted to charge me a couple hundred dollars for a reinstallation fee.

Switched to Dish that week.

You'll be the one losing purchasing power while I gain, dumbass. There's this economic effect called inflation, you should read up about it sometime.

Urine helps whiten teeth. It's a valuable service that dentists place a great value on. I'll cut you a deal.

Poor OP. He got no valuable answer to his question.

I wonder if he's still on the phone stalling with them refreshing the thread waiting for a good answer.

Every time they give you NFL ticket for free, you are basically getting a new contract. And you aren’t getting NFL ticket for free EVERY year. Anytime you get a deal like that or they upgrade equipment, it’s just agreeing to another contract.

If your spouse has the same last name then you are SOL for getting a new deal. You can either switch to a new company (preferably without a contract) or cancel for minimum 30 days and then be a “new” customer.
