I have lunch followed by dinner. My wifes country as hell family has dinner followed by supper. shite was confusing for awhile....why we goin to have dinner at noon??? Lol

This is common in rural LA. I use them interchangeably for the evening meal, like most people I encounter. Lunch is lunch.

Grew up in the AP.

Supper was the evening meal.

Dinner is what fancy folks called supper.

This is how I was raised. However, after spending the college years working in the service industry my brain relearned based on the 'lunch menu' and 'dinner menu'. Now it is...

Breakfast
Lunch
Dinner

My Mississippi born and raised Granny had dinner at exactly 11am daily, she would watch her “stories”- DONT you dare speak or get in her way of the tv. She had a full course meal at 11. For supper, 5pm, she had a sandwich.
