The job is located back in Alabama, where I grew up. I've been wanting to move back for years. It would be more income and a lot cheaper cost of living than where I am now. I could be near my family and many of my close friends again. And I also cannot stand my current supervisor. It's been pretty miserable.

But, my ex probably won't let me take my sons with me. And Florida law would back her up. It sucks only getting them every other week as it is. Me moving would probably mean that I would only get them one weekend a month and during the summer and winter breaks some.

Has anyone on the OT done something like this?

I would think nothing else matters besides being with your kids as much as possible.

But I would discuss this with your ex. You're assuming stuff here.

Sounds to me you're choosing that spring break fling over your kids.

That girl lives in north Alabama. I'm from the wiregrass area, so that has nothing to do with it.

From my experience with similar situations I've learned it's not always about money. If you are doing fine right now and the raise doesn't improve your life substantially then I would def stay closer to the kids. Kids need their dad.

Thankfully my family is still intact but if I was where you are I'd want to get the most time with my kids as possible.

Dude, i used to see shite like this at Chrysler.

Guys had horrible, cheating wives, and would move into the basement or get an apartment, just so they could see their kids. Some would sign their pay checks over to the rags, just so they got to see their kids every day.

It's something you have to decide, better life, or being a big part of your kids life! Sucks man, but when you knocked her up, u knew the consequences, she literally ownz you, once that child is born. And the Florida courts absolutely frick the men in any custody battle. I remember being down there in 2000, and i think Jeb passed a law where the Mother had ALL Rights, she could literally leave the state with the kid and u were fricked, if Husband took kid, it was kidnapping.

It would pretty much double my salary. I would have so much more job satisfaction and life satisfaction as well. But idk how happy I would be without them.

how old are your kids? are they almost college aged or sub 12yrs old? Kids need their dad man and I know it already tears you up that some other dude is raising them every other week. just think if you left. HE would become their "father figure" you would be the guy they get to see one wkend a month.
