Graduated in Mechanical Engineering. Probably would easily average to the more rigorous side or more if you want to graduate in 4 years. I did not do that and can admit I likely found ways to just get by in many of the classes vs. truly master the curriculum. Now 15+ years later after experiencing a true work ethic, I kick myself for how I treated that time. Granted I had a lot of fun too, which would have been non-existent otherwise.

We copied HW right before class for most courses, so no HW was worth almost nothing. And if you didn't understand it, you'd bomb the test anyway

So a 3 hour course should equal approximately 9 hours of work in total per week. More rigorous universities probably push towards 12 hours of work per week, but the average is supposed to be 9.

At my advanced age, I can't stand the thought of college even though I got an advanced degree way back when. I prefer to look at YouTube videos.

Not even close.

My granddaughter has two HS classes and 3 college classes this year. Rarely has stuff to do at home and if so, its done quickly via computer.

My experience at the same school was very different.

Here comes the anal retentive one with her lies.

It really disturbs you that a relative of mine is so much smarter than you. Not sure why, you should be used to it by now.

Engineering was a shitton of homework... not necessarily from the teachers, but just trying figure out "WTF is this chit... Maybe I aint cut out for this and should switch majors or get a job". Maybe 5 or 6 classes were like that, the rest weren't too bad.

I never attended one Econ 3000 (or whatever the Money, Banking and Financial systems class Stahl taught) class besides test days, including day one. Got a solid B just reading the book. He always had a few questions that you could only answer if you attended, so it was basically an A for a no-show.

Chemistry took a lot of my time. I took it as an elective thinking the lab would be fun, but turns out its just more math.

Buddy, who is an anesthesiologist, said the hardest class he had in all of his classes was organic chemistry.

I took 15 hours/semester at LSU, late 80's. Worked almost a full-time job, 32+ hours/week. Luckily, had weekends off. On my vacation days, I worked another construction job for 2 weeks. But I finished college in 4 years (only went 1 summer for 2 classes), paid for it entirely on my own without any loans.

When I hear people talk about how fun college was, I cringe. For me, it was like working two full-time jobs, for 4 years. The good news, on my worst days at work ever since, I look back, and think, at least I don't have to go home and study. College was the hardest time of my life.
