Not necessarily, but my wife is leaning that way if we have another child and it's a boy.

My dad didn't want me called jr so I am the 2nd, or II as it shows on my birth certificate.

Yes but skip the Junior and Senior levels and jump straight to College Dropout IV.

I'm a III.
Son is IV. We call him by my mother's maiden name. F his life. He is also doomed to scan tron hell.

Not no, but hell no. Whether you are a great CEO or a clerk, saddling a son with your name casts a shadow.
Now I did saddle my son's with 4 names, but that's another topic, defensible on reasonable grounds. But, to each his own.

Yes.
I absolutely have loathe my name for the longest time and have only recently accepted/comfortable with it. I am named after my father, and he is the greatest man I have ever known.. He is the father every kid dreams to have and I would definitely consider passing the name on if I have a kid.

No and refused especially when my first name was taken out the new testament with too much ease

I'm a IV. Don't see why I wouldn't go for V if I have a son someday.

George Foreman. His five sons are George Jr., George III ("Monk"), George IV ("Big Wheel"), George V ("Red"), and George VI ("Little Joey").

I'm the 2nd but I just asked why my parents divorced so I'm an 11 on the trashy scale.

I wanted to name my son Jr.
My wife said she bangs me, so that cant be our son's name.
Kindof ended my argument.

No.
Family arrived in NC, SC between 1738 and 1748. Land granted from austria. Ancestors all had same name as Rev War hero, Confederate hero through my dad, WW2,Korea decorated vet, deceased now. Soldiers soldier he was, but hated the weight of his name. Gave me Pedestrian name didn't include certain patrilineage.
I named my sons honoring both sides of my paternal line using those names, but neither got a same name.
One forebearer is buried in a national battlefield park, along with his wife because of Rev War heroics and both are honored with cenataphs and family histories.
Their Grandson namesake, was a Col in civil war. Our family donated his bloodied, bullet riddled Regimental battle flag to the State in late 1800s. Still available for viewing today. His heroics rival those of his Rev War GF.
I'll not go into his heroics or his engagements, but my father was his great grandson and tagged with both forebears names. Believed he was born to fight and serve and nothing else.
He was in Pacific Campaign WW2, Korea Navy/Marines.
He decided the names ended with him. Luck will run out. Demanded I not name any male son after his line, but honor our contributions in other ways.
The weight of generational names on some folks are too much to bear.
No one is born with a name, only a life granted by God.
Weight of all that haunted my dad... bar always raised no matter what you do. Always living in shadow of a name you didn't ask for. That is a war no soldier can win
PEACE.
