I selected my college and university for its proximity at age 28. Wish I could have gone to a "cooler" place, but it was cheap and local.

My boy and girl went to aTm and I didn't have much influence in their decision. I don't know what to tell you. Try not to obsess too much about your kids choices as long as they aren't senseless.

She will likely regret going to UNT over a boy. Tell her its a financial decision and since she applied too late for scholarships to UNT, she should defer her acceptance to Oklahoma (which maintains her scholarship offer), take a gap year and work to save money for UNT. In that year, boyfriend will likely be gone or you at least have a year to talk her into Oklahoma.

Parents tried to make just look at La Tech

I sat in the car like a 17y old arse. Too much LSU in me.

Then ended up at Tech for graduate school

We would love our two oldest to get into aTm, but they are in The Woodlands HS and to hit that top 8-10% is very tough in such a large high performing group (close to 4K students).

But, they are on track for Eagle Scout and grades will be pretty good. Blin and transfer would still be a win.
