A B-29 Superfortress submerged in Lake Mead since 1948 is getting closer to the surface as the lake level falls. Once classified as a technical dive open only to qualified divers, the plane’s fuselage is no longer off-limits to any diver up to the challenge. The B-29 has been down there since July 21, 1948, when it descended closer to Lake Mead’s surface. The altimeter told the pilot the Superfortress was 400 feet above the lake. The copilot verified the reading. There was only one issue. The altimeter was off. Around 12:30 p.m., traveling at 230 miles per hour, the B-29 struck the water and sank to the bottom of Lake Mead where it still lies today,” according to a social media post Wednesday by Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The entire crew survived the ordeal, but the location wasn’t public knowledge. The mystery was revealed in the early 2000s, when a plane-shaped mass appeared in map data in the Overton Arm of Lake Mead.

The 1948 Lake Mead Boeing B-29 crash occurred 21 July 1948 when a Boeing B-29-100-BW Superfortress, modified into an F-13 reconnaissance platform and performing atmospheric research, crashed into the waters of Lake Mead, Nevada. Listed as a National Register of Historic Places site, the wreckage is around 100 feet underwater.

When you find something that you lost it’s always in the last place that you looked.

They allude to this in fallout new Vegas. There a mission where you raise it from the depths and give it to a gang call the boomers who fire howitzers and wear bomber jackets. They then bomb the Hoover dam in the final mission if you ally with them.
Yes I’m a nerd but in my defense it’s a fantastic game.
