Well I lived in Luanda for 3 years and I can tell you that it has little to do with the oil industry. There are still a lot of Portuguese living there. They also have Russian, Cuban and Chinese populations.

He’s using Cabinda as a barometer. Cabinda is almost entirely oilfield and has a huge Chevron base there. It’s a province of Angola located in Congo.

Mugabe used a lot of anti white rhetoric and ran the lower and middle class whites out of the country. At the same time, he had a core of very wealthy whites in his inner circle.
