Did you know that Covid-19 has disproportionately impacted black restaurant owners?

Apparently Discover Card discovered that it did. White restaurant owners are More fortunate to be coming out of this pandemic unscathed.

The attack against white America continues, and more specifically against the white male.

Discover, in the snapshot provided speaks to be inclusive ... yet they specifically excluded the white business owner. Up is now down and right is left.

For starters, skin color. Built in privileges. I have yet to find mine but I’m told repeatedly I have them.

Also, better locations. Access to “more” funding. Laughable, at best.

And some of y’all are going to say what the frick happened fifteen to twenty years from now if this is tolerated and becomes acceptable as the new norm.

If you’re in Baton Rouge, go visit Boil and Roux. It appears, based upon the numerous times I have driven by there, their parking lot paintings are more important to them than their customer base, of what little is left of it.

I cannot imagine a much more disrespectful thing than Discover Card telling someone that because they are black they need more help than others. Discover is saying blacks are not capable of running a business as well as whites and need help. That is such a slap in the face.

American Express, a far superior company, gave $5 back over purchases made over $10 to any small business restaurant.

I don’t know of any person who carries discover anyway.

I’d tell them to go screw themselves with that handout. I need their sympathy and disrespect like I need another hole in my head.

I received this from a company I chose to do business with. I didn’t ask for this email. I only asked to receive emails regarding my order, promotions and products they offer.

quote:

Hello .....

As part of our commitment to donate $100,000 annually to organizations fighting for social justice, we are sending a check for $25,000 to the NAACP in support of their mission to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.

We encourage those in the DC area to join the NAACP at the Lincoln Memorial for a Commitment March on Friday, August 28, 11am-3pm ET. Convened by Rev. Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King III, it will restore and recommit to the dream Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. defended in 1963
.

I replied with:

quote:

Believe it or not, it’s actually refreshing to not know a company’s position and what they support or don’t support. Companies are founded to solve a need and I’m sure yours is no different. If your passion is leading you elsewhere to “take a stand on your business’s page” and send unsolicited emails to your customer base, you may want to reconsider what you are doing, because it truly comes off as pandering.

I only want to hear or read about about the products you offer in an email addressed to me, not what you contribute or support and what you think I should know about your business - unsolicited.

I don’t support your actions and I don’t need for you to take advantage of why I chose to do business with you in the first place and use my email address as a sounding board for something that is not related to the core product(s) of which you sell.

I no longer do business with them. I’m only one customer and in the grand scheme of things, I may not matter to them. But if others feel and do the same, then our voices will be heard.

What is this norm that you speak of, black owned businesses thriving?

I obviously have it. I don’t use it often and never carry a balance. I’m tempted to cancel.

Built in better parts of town where more people can afford to eat out, maybe.
