I did it for a few years. Looking back I'm glad I did because it exposed me to new people and new experiences.

During my childhood I lived in the same town on the same street and went to the same school for 8 years. I had my tight group of best friends at school and in the neighborhood and we had the exact same interests and did everything together.

A lot of summer camp stuff is lame but it forces kids out of their bubble.

Went to a BREC camp before 8th grade year. Was a blast and one of the best summers of my life.

Yes. 8 week sleep away camp in the Berkshires in western Mass. Intensive all around sports programs, all boys, w/ the girls camp down the way. Loved it, some of my fondest memories and still talk friends I met there 35 years ago.

My grandfather was the first to attend the camp in the 30s, my uncles in the 60s, I was a camper from 86-92 and my oldest nephew just spent his first summer. So pretty cool, four generations so far.

I did a few sleep in dorms soccer summer camps at universities.

We had a y day camp on the lake and every week you could choose diff things. Water sports, horseback riding, archery, arts and crafts, team sports. The parents would drop us off at a sears parking lot and school buses would take us.

Did Camp Ozark when I was 12. Loved every minute of it.

Also did Philmont scout ranch when I was 14, also an incredible experience.

4-H Camp at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock after my 4th, 5th, and 6th grades for a week at a time back in the late 80’s. Good times

I went one year and found it boring compared to my summers at home or the week at cousins in Carencro. At home I could go fishing or looking for snakes to shoot all summer long.

Did Dixie basketball a few times. I know many posters on this site did also. Not sure if that qualifies as summer camp.

No, not a traditional summer camp. I attended a week long basketball camp at a college once.

YMCA summer camp helpedme become a man. It's where I first had a knife put to my throat by a kid named Layton. So many lessons learned.

Yes, but only for a week each time. Camp Maryhill, (Catholic, sponsored by the KC’s) from age 9 - 12, and one year I went to Camp Grant Walker (4-H camp) and to Camp Maryhill. And two years of cheerleader camp! My siblings did not like to go, except one brother who went to Camp Edgewater (Boy Scout camp).

I was amazed when I first heard that some kids spent almost all summer at camp. I was SO envious.
