Grew up in Sherwood Forest so, Yes, all the time. Still hike there regularly.
There were also devil worshipers at the very end of Strain Rd off O'Neal Lane.

Just folklore as far as I can tell. I always heard the same stories, but never saw any actual evidence of anything.
ETA: I just remembered one Halloween night I had to deliver pizza to the house right past the train tracks. Was scared as hell that I was being set up for something and this was before cell phones. To my surprise, it wasn't a prank.

In my hometown we would go out into bfe to this old lady’s house, her name was Miss Kitty Kathy. Lived alone in this creepy old house that looked twice as old as her.
She only kept one light on in the house and she had a podium in the living room, like pastors use, that had a guest book for people to sign if you were brave enough. Also had an oddly large portrait of her deceased husband on the wall behind the podium.
My Junior year, when we left her house, 3 of the 4 people in my car swore that we were being followed by a school bus with flashing lights and no driver.

Had a bunch of friends who lived off Frenchtown. That was one of our regular HS drinking spots in the 90's. We'd leave there and go play pool at Froggy's at Morgan Road and Greenwell Springs, or go make a bonfire behind DEMCO.
The good Ole days of Central. Now all the "immigrants" from Baton Rouge have poisoned it. Was a great area to grow up back in 80s and 90s. Central Thruway made it to accessible to outsiders.
Wasn't there a story about a witch buried in Zachary cemetery that had bars over it and it was said when last bar would be removed should would come back to haunt you.

For those of us in high school in the late 80's south of Houston the place was the Todville Mansion. It had sat empty for years after the owner was murdered in 1984.
Rumors were always going around that it was haunted and that Satanists used it for their ceremonies. Truthfully , though, it was mainly used by high schoolers who would break in and drink and do other things. Group of us went there one time but didn't stay long. Creepy place. It had a very weird vibe. It was torn down in the early 90's.

(Married to a) 1994 grad here. Home schooled myself, but I shopped WHS for female companionship pretty hard in the early 1990s.
