Whatever was closest. My mom once whipped me with a flyswatter until it was a U. She didn't mean to hit me with the metal part. She just wasn't accurate in her wild flailing.

Yes, and it was whatever object was close by or bare hand. I understand why it was necessary now, but probably won't take it to the extent I endured if/when I have kids.

Yes. By my dads hand, and a few times with a leather belt. No big deal imo. I deserved it for being a little a-hole.

I always want to know, what constitutes whipping? The amount of force? Or the instrument used?
I was spanked with a slotted wooden spoon. Never a belt. Only threatened with a belt.
Looking back on it, I don't see how a belt would hurt more than a spoon. Maybe it is loud?

When my Dad was real mad he'd turn his College Ring around and pop me on top of my head.My Dad was 6'5" 240.
Whippings or Spankings I got were with his open palm.Didn't hurt physically as much as it hurt my feelings.
I still have knots on my head from that ring though.
