We didn’t lose, we quit.
Same thing with Afghanistan.

My grandmother told me it was the first war we ever lost, so yes we lost.

The American people stopped that war. We bombed North Vietnam into the Stone Age and they were never going to surrender. Ho said you'll have to kill every man, woman and child in the country. He meant it.

Today, we have two Vietnams, side by side, North and South, exchanging and working. We may not agree with all that North Vietnam is doing, but they are living in peace. I would look for a better human rights record for North Vietnam, but they are living side by side.

Based on McNamara metrics? You can love Vietnam (and GWoT) vets and admit that they did their jobs excellently, and we accomplished jack shite.

Lots of bodies, lots of bombs, results are ... USS Enterprise pushing choppers off the deck to make room for more refugees? #Winning

Meanwhile, Marxists have taken control over every city over 250k in the country, and the outright socialists have control of the financial hub of the US, but yeah, we beat the absolute shite out of them.

So, who won again? I'm probably on your side, but you have to be realistic, society in the 60s, largely based on the Vietnam war, sent the western world into a tailspin. We're farked.

It was guerilla warfare and they had home field advantage. That memorial wall was only going to add more names. It needed to end and did.

Tunnel crawling was bad, I asked my father a lot of questions on the drive to boot camp and they answers were not pretty. The troops coming back did not deserve the welcome they got.

The evening news always began with the death count and correspondents reporting from the war. How they came up with the death counts is beyond me and it was for both sides.

Then on to the reports on protests and riots the civil rights movement and then sprinkle in a few assassinations here and there and it was a crazy time to grow up in.

Oh, wait, you aren't talking about now.

We bombed them into oblivion, didn't work. Nixon actually considered nuclear option for a time, but decided otherwise.

ahhh The good ol Vietnam War.

Crazy how JFK and LBJ were so much against communism, they sent American kids to die in a stangeland.

Now democrats embrace communism.

Weird.

No, what he actually said (as all politicians do) was, "you'll have to kill every man, woman and child in the country... uh, except ME. I'll quit before you get to me."
