Don't doubt that at all. I had an older Ranger for awhile. It had a sweet ride. Wasn't all that reliable once it got some age on it, at least compared to a Yota, but the ride was very nice, unlike some of the more recent Tacos I have ridden in.

That looks so much better than the new Tundra.

Looks like they fixed the cab too. The current Tacoma has a lower roof line that makes it difficult to get into/out of if you are taller than 5'9". It's hard to get comfortable in the current Tacoma. The new one looks like it has a more upright cab like the 4Runner. That's a welcome change.

They are going to sell so many of these....

The Ranger rides better than the Tacoma. The Colorado rides even better than the Ranger. The Ridgeline rides better than all of them.

The problem is that the current Tacoma is not a comfortable vehicle to put a lot of miles on. It's reliable, but it's not comfortable or particularly good at towing. That's something they are trying to address with this new generation clearly with better suspension and more powerful engines. It has a new multi link rear suspension rather than leaf springs. It's borrowing that from the new Tundra. I think it's getting new 8 speed automatics too from other Toyota vehicles. We should expect a better ride, better fuel economy, more power, more payload, and better towing capacities.

Like I said - they are going to sell so many of these new Tacomas. The Frontier, Ranger, and Colorado will have to be upgraded again soon to keep up even though they already matched or exceeded the current Tacoma on paper in nearly all fronts. This is a good thing. 10 years ago, the mid sized truck segment was dead. Now it's pretty lively.

Considering this. I’d like to get another manual before they go completely.

Going to have to disagree. The old one looked plain and boring. The new ones look hideous to me. They look like a caricature of a pickup truck. They refined the styling a lot better in the new Sequioa and in this new Tacoma.

And I'm really confused as to why Toyota can't fit a recovery hook or a bed step on the new Tundra when every other competitor can. It just seems like it was not quite flushed out. Like it needs a quick design refresh to finish what they should have delivered from the start. I'm sure Toyota will get there, but they should already have those basic features.

Now I really like the Tundra's new powertrains. They did excellent work there even though it isn't a V8. Wish they'd have gone the extra mile and offered something like the Ford Powerboost setup on the hybrid model. Or a diesel like the Chevy/GMC have. I think the powerboost thing is coming though. Those are more "nice to have" features though and not deal breakers/makers.

Same here. There are several third gen manual Tacomas with 300k miles of them on YouTube.

The current Ranger is a very lazy attempt by Ford to test the mid-truck market waters after a long absence. It’s actually just a very mild refresh of the global ranger. Reliably has been sub par at best, design is bland & materials are shat. I especially hate the tailgate with the massive RANGER stamped-in. But…to each their own.
A redesign should be coming very soon.

The nissan vq motor was the superior 4.0l after 2010 or so.

And had better transmissions.

The styling was just so damned boring...

Tundras are for people that can’t afford Ford/GMC

Toyota definitely knows their audience and caters to it.

They just didn't update the truck to keep it competitive. It was a little on the basic side in 2005/2006 model when it came out. Then they kept it until 2021 or so with no real investment from Nissan. It got old very quickly, especially when the 2015 Colorado came onto the market and the Tacoma got redesigned/updated for 2016.

They put some effort into the design of the new Frontier recently, and I love the styling. But it's already outclassed by the new Colorado/Canyon and I'm sure the new Tacoma will be vastly superior. I hope that Nissan doesn't wait 15 years to redesign or update it again. They have a good product and just need to keep it fresh. The VQ V6 motor they have is very good, and it can be very reliable if you treat it right.

The Frontier might be the only V6 mid sized pickup very soon. It deserves attention from buyers for that IMO.

Taco has always been bro.

Love my 3rd gen, would take it over any 3rd gen. The ride on the 3rd gen is different for each version. The TRD OR kinda floated and wasn't great. TRD sport is ok for roads. SRs aren't the best, but I upgraded to the pro shocks. Much better ride.

Ride quality is a fair criticism. People buy these trucks because they are reliable and can handle the miles.

But if it beats the hell out of you on the highway, it's not really ideal for a vehicle that will get a lot of windshield time.

also dumb..

I don't drive a Tundra btw.. But I've looked at all 3 and I'd choose the Tundra.. If we excluding the Denali from this selection..

I got a 22 Sport and I looked at the Ranger.

The interior of the Ranger is superior, easily. Seats are more comfortable and car like. The 4 turbo is quick and lively. The biggest immediate issue I found with the Ranger is that it was exceptionally bouncy vs. the Tacoma. Distractingly so. That bouncy ride coupled with my leeriness of the powerplant over a number of years steered me to the Toyota.

Yeah, my Tacoma has some weird shifting but so far that's the one negative. Seats are fine for my needs.

To each their own.

I have a 2019 TRD Sport 4x4.
Just drove it from Lower Terrebonne Parish to Odessa Texas and back (twice).

I mean it's 4x4, so it doesn't ride like a Coupe de Vile, but it's not a bad ride at all.

it’s a truck. I have years worth of time in a Tacoma with 10 ply mud grips. Yes it’s rough as a cob but will go anywhere I point it.
