It's gotta be the difference in taxes on the huge deal. That in and of itself is enough to make the move.

I like Joe Rogan. From News Radio til present day.

He got a ton of $$$ from Spotify(sp).Of course they censored some of his best Podcasts.

I think the move to Texas was smart.

I think Rogan likes the idea of Austin.Even though he's a pretty conservative person,he was raised in San Fransisco in the early 70's.

imho,he's torn between the the total freedom he's was exposed to as a adolescent, and the reality of the values he lives by.

He took the payday. For $100M every forum on every corner of the internet could shite post me into oblivion about my show going downhill.

I think Texas was a good move. The guest list has gone down to us. Because it's more about who he wants to talk to rather than who we want to hear. The man turned down Biden* and multiple celebrities. (*wanted an endorsement for appearance, like Bernie)

I do agree it's been mostly stale. I'm not into MMA so when he really gets into that, he loses me. Lately he's had a lot of scientists and doctors some have been really good. The NDT episodes are great. I prefer when he less comedians and more celebrities that he has rapport with.

Alex Jones is a great guest. I like the animated Alex Jones Joe Rogan clips on YouTube.

Spotify is likely approving/black balling his guests based on the type of audience they want to attract.

Texas has nothing to do with it. Focus groups do.

Right. I love the Alex Jones podcasts. I just want to know who Spotify is denying as guests, since that apparently is a popular belief here, but they would approve Alex Jones?

Alex Jones has a massive following and the risk/reward is still somewhat more favorable with Alex. They still caught a lot of flack for bringing him onto the show.

...ok? that hasn't stopped everyone else from censoring Alex

just seems like if Spotify was trying to censor/approve guests, Alex Jones would be the #1 candidate to deny

He is getting paid bank to smoke weed and interview people. I’d say he has it figured out.

This. It’s laughable to be screaming denying guests when he’s still having Jones on.
Joe made a great mov going to Texas and tons of comics are following. He’s gonna be setting up his own clubs and he won’t ever miss Cali other than legal weed.
Who cares if his guests are decreasing in amount, I cant keep up with 6 podcasts a week and he’s still having massive names like Kanye and Alex Jones anyway

It was a risk and with Alex Jones massive following they were willing to take it, did it pay off? Most likely not.

It was just his 7th most popular podcast, so I'd say it paid off pretty well

Has it?

Alex Jones on Joe Rogan Podcast Sparks Outrage, People Cancelling Their Spotify Accounts

Mind you, this was back in October and OP was questioning why the lack of good guests recently.

Spotify currently trading at an all time high and with all time high in subscribers, so...yes?

Mind you, that obviously has very little to do with Alex Jones, but its just a quick reminder that "boycotts" rarely do anything.

Spotify as a platform is doing well but my explanation was geared towards the Rogan podcast itself.

Ok

well with that podcast being his 7th most popular and only having been out a few months, I'd say that paid off quite well, no?

and just scrolling through his recent guest lists, he seems to have had plenty of good guests IMO recently

Bill Burr, Mike Judge, Andrew Schulz, Alex Berenson (another one that Spotify should censor if Spotify was censoring), and several scientist that could probably be interesting

How are they rated in terms of popularity? Is it overall downloads or purchases? I am thinking it may have received a boost since people wanted to give it a listen in order to post their faux-outrage of him being on the show.

Seems the guest lineup has gone down. Figured it would be harder to consistently get good guests compared to when show was in California.

He's had plenty of good guests, but I have noticed there are fewer big names...at least to me it seems.

I think he screwed up moving to Austin and not realizing it will eventually turn into a city that has many of the characteristics he hated about LA. He seems very oblivious at times.
